Laser surgery basically aims at destroying sebaceous glands underneath the skin surface. These sebaceous glands are responsible for producing sebum whose excessive production leads to acne. So, by destroying the sebaceous glands, the sebum production is reduced. Laser treatment can also be used to kill the p. acne bacterium which is also associated with stimulating acne. Although, laser surgery is really effective in treating acne, it is not affordable for most patients due to its excessive cost. Latest developments in this field will bring major changes including the reduction in cost. As a result, it will be widely available to general public in future.
